Road Trip Back from Barcelona: A Taste of France
This summer, after a wedding in Barcelona, we turned our drive back to Germany into a road trip through France with stops in Montpellier and Strasbourg.
In Montpellier, we wandered the charming city center, skipping the harbor but soaking up the charming streets. I even tried ordering in French (with questionable success!) at a cozy restaurant.
A quick stop at a local Fromagerie provided us with some delicious cheeses to snack on while we explored, and we couldn’t resist treating ourselves to colorful macarons.
Strasbourg stole my heart with its beautiful Fachwerkhäuser (half-timbered houses), reflecting its blend of French and German history. It quickly became my favorite city of the trip, surpassing even Barcelona and Genoa. We spent the day snacking on delicious treats, apple strudel, roasted maroni, salami sticks, and of course, more macarons. We ended the trip the next day with a fresh baguette for breakfast. The perfect way to say goodbye to France.
